4 Important Parts of an Electrical Circuit

Four important parts of an eletrical circuit are the transistor, resistor, LED and capacitor.


A transisitor is basically used to switch or amplify an electronic signal. It has three terminals that can be used to connect it to the inputs and outputs of the signals. A transistor is one of the most important components in electricity.


A diode is the components that lets the electrical current only flow in one direction. Current will only flow through if a positive voltage is applied to the anode and negative voltage to the cathode. If these voltages are the wrong way around then the doide will not work.


An LED is basically a small light bulb that can be turned on and off by the electrical circuit.


A capacitor is one of the most commonly used components in an electrical circuit, it can temporarily hold and store electrical charge. The amount a capacitor can store is measured in microfarads.


A resistor is a components that resists the flow of electrical currents. Resistors can be bought in a variety resistance values and are measured in units called ohms and power ratings, which shows how much a resistor can handle without burning up. A resistor can also control the signal levels, voltage and transmission lines.

Intergrated Circuits

This contains an entire electronic circuit with all of other components above within it. These are the building blocks of current electronic devices, such as computers and cellphones.
